Calling all linguists. savvy.gif

Who is out there waiting for a Guild of Linguists to form or looking for a restoration of the DLF?

In the interest of rebuilding, can we gather here the names of those who want something like this to happen?

I'm Stejovis, and I came on board a couple of years ago just as MOUL was about to die. That makes me a late comer, with no DLF history to speak of, but with a naive hope that we can bring this back to life if we just bring our discussions of D'ni language matters here.

In RL I have some formal training in linguistics and a PhD in Hebrew Bible, so I have some experience reconstructing ancient languages. That is only of limited usefulness in the study of D'ni, but hopefully I can make some contributions to discussions here.

How about you?

I'm still here, too, and also interested in talking about D'ni.

Looks like you're warming up for a concert, Jerle.

And that reminds me, are there any surviving songs in D'ni? I mean songs that were sung and not merely instrumentals. Can anyone point to any sung samples?

How about D'nian poetry?
[Hmmm. What is the preferred English adjectival form of D'ni?]

In English practically any language name can be used either as a noun or as an adjective -- so "D'ni" has come to be used this way as well, pretty much without any conscious thought.

I don't know that any D'ni poems or songs have been officially published so far. But some have been restored by various explorers. Here is an example discussed on the DRC forum (and also check out the links there):

It's been a sporatic kind of watchfulness on my part, but still here as well!

I'd love to engage in this coversation too. Studying D'ni has been a very shaping experience for me over the years, though a lax hobbie lately for lack of friends to do it with, to say the least. But I'm in.
